Adult film star Stormy Daniels is starring in a real-life drama in Washington D.C., as she sues a sitting president to be released from a nondisclosure agreement she signed just before the 2016 election. But for someone with a supposed gag order, the 39-year-old Daniels has had little trouble teasing out details of her alleged sexual relationship with then-reality star Donald Trump.
The next stop on her publicity tour, which has included appearances at strip clubs across the country, is an interview with “60 Minutes” on Sunday. If the New York Times‘s new profile of her is any indication, though, it would be a mistake to underestimate the self-promoter and businesswoman. As those who know her tell the newspaper, she has rolled over people in her industry who have not stuck to her script.
“If her name has seemed ubiquitous — repeated on cable television and in the White House briefing room, and plastered on signs outside nightclubs, where her appearance fees have multiplied — there is this to consider,” writes the Times. Unlike most perceived presidential adversaries, about whom Mr. Trump is rarely shy, Ms. Clifford has not been the subject of a single tweet.
“To many in the capital, Ms. Clifford, 39, has become an unexpected force. It is she, some in Washington now joke, and not the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, who could topple Mr. Trump.”
