Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg Drops Out of ABC Interview: Report

Amid Cambridge Analytica scandal, social giant exec dodges tough interviewer, NY Post reports.

Facebook COO Shery Sandberg nixed a planned interview with ABC’s This Week With George Stephanopoulos amid increased scrutiny over the way the social media giant has handled users’ personal information, The New York Post’s Page Six reported.

As outrage mounted over the use of Facebook profile data accessed by Cambridge Analytica and allegedly used to manipulate voters during the 2016 presidential election, Sandberg had made a brief media tour on TODAY and Fox News. But the Lean In author decided to cancel her ABC appearance once she found out Stephanopoulos would not be conducted the interview. Instead, hard-hitting journalist Martha Raddatz was the network’s choice to handle the tough questioning.

“Sheryl’s team were talking to producers at ‘This Week.’ After they were told the interview would be with Martha, not George, the discussions ended,” an ABC insider told Page Six.
