In Porsche’s latest encroachment on the electric car territory held by Tesla, the European car company announced the production name for the Mission E concept car: Taycan. “Taycan” (pronounced “tie-con”)roughly translates from German as “lively young horse,” reports Maxim, which is a reference to the horse seen on Porsche’s badge. The four-door hatchback will boast a power rating of more than 600 horsepower, a 0 to 60 mph time of less than 3.5 seconds and a 0 to 124 mph (200 kph) time of less than 12.0 seconds. Porsche is engineering the Taycan to withstand multiple launches with undiminished performance, and the predicted driving range will be more than 300 miles. The company has boosted its planned investment in electric technology from 3 billion Euros to 6 billion Euros by 2022.
