Tired of arguing about which country is tops in natural beauty? Well, the World Economic Forum decided to wade into the debate. They ranked 136 countries by what natural resources they offer for the 2017 Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report. The report surveyed the number of World Heritage natural sites, the total known number of species and protected areas, and the natural tourism digital demand. World Heritage natural sites are recognized as having “outstanding universal value,” Travel + Leisure explains, while natural tourism digital demand measures how many searches online are related to the country and keywords revolving around nature, like “beaches,” “animal watching,” and “diving.” WEF also put out a survey about how important the natural resources were for tourists visiting that country.
