It may be too early to start talking about the 2019 Oscars, but The Miseducation of Cameron Post, starring Chloe Grace Moretz, will sure to draw buzz when the time comes after claiming the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The drama about gay conversion therapy targeting young lesbians was the big winner at Saturday night’s awards. Other major winners included Documentary Grand Jury Award honoree Kailash, filmmaker Derek Doneen’s chronicle about an advocate fighting to end child slavery.
Audience Award winners included the drama Burden, starring Garrett Hedlund, which follows a Klansman who learns tolerance, and the documentary The Sentence, a personal film by director Rudy Valdez about his sister’s questionable 15-year mandatory prison sentence.
