Anthony Bourdain Was "Regularly Suicidal" After 1st Marriage Ended

As far as TV viewers could see, Parts Unknown host Anthony Bourdain had the perfect job and the perfect life.

But under the surface, there were darker impulses coming to a boil that may have led to his death at the age of 61 from an apparent suicide in a room at the prestigious Le Chambard Hotel in Kaysersberg, France.

Bourdain had dropped clues as to the depression that flitted in and out of his life, as The New York Post‘s Page Six gossip column reports. In the TV personality’s book, Media Raw, he wrote of being “aimless and regularly suicidal” during a stretch in the Caribbean after his first divorce in 2005. After meeting a woman in London shortly afterward, he revealed that “my nightly attempts at suicide ended.”
