Ride Along as a 2017 Honda Civic Type R Breaks a World Record at Nürburgring

You probably never thought a Honda Civic could do something like this. Honda unveiled its Civic Type R at the Geneva Motor Show, and wanted to throw its weight behind the hatchback’s ever-so-mighty 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that kicks out 306 hp.

So the folks at Honda brought the car to the northern loop of the Nürburgring, the famed race car test track in Germany, for the spin of its lifetime.

While there, the Civic broke the world record for a front-wheel-drive production car, with a hot lap of 7 minutes and 43:80 seconds.

Watch it all unfold from the driver’s seat below.
