Side effects include separation anxiety and need for speed

They say the way to let a house go straight to pieces is to leave it unoccupied.

The same goes for cars, especially of the classic variety.

They need to stretch their legs and get a bit of fresh air every now and then.

Pair that fact with the concept that people desperately want to cruise around in their dream rides, if even for just a day, and you’ve got Hagerty’s DriveShare. The new platform allows auto enthusiasts to rent out or lease vintage cars straight from the owners.

Find a car near you, contact ’em and DriveShare then charges the renting party a fee for the fun determined by the owner. That’s after a $500 deposit and background check. So, cowboys need not apply.

There are currently 135 cars in the fleet nationally with many more to come. Some chariots of note include a ‘71 Camaro in New York, a Rolls Phantom in Connecticut and an ‘81 Delorean out in Jamul, California, which we have shamelessly always wanted to get behind the wheel of and pump some Huey Lewis.
