Michael Bay Just Hung Nazi Flags All Over Winston Churchill’s House Because He’s a Tasteless Hack
Cinema's resident master of subtlety strikes again
To reframe an old Winston Churchill quote, this is not Michael Bay’s finest hour.
The former Prime Minister’s home of Blenheim Palace has been draped in swastika-emblazoned flags this week for the upcoming Transformers sequel, directed once again by master of subtlety Michael Bay.
Why, you may ask?
The home, in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, and owned by a distant relative of the former British Prime Minister, has been “reimagined” as the HQ of a Nazi leader in The Last Knight, the fifth (!) Transformers film. To add insult, actors dressed as SS stormtroopers are on the set.

According to the official website, the estate is set in over 2,000 acres of beautiful Parkland and home to several “Sites of Special Scientific Interest” (and possibly Britain’s oldest oak tree). Come tomorrow, they may need to add “an angry mob of pitchfork-equipped British nationalists” to the amenities.
To cleanse your mind, here’s a clip of Churchill’s 1940 famous speech, where he promised, “We will fight them [aka the Nazis] on the beaches.”
