Elon Musk, founder of Telsa and SpaceX, has a lot of really big plans but his master plan is to create habitats for humanity on planets and moon, Rolling Stone reports. If that were ever to happen, Musk would likely be remembered as one of the most important figures of this millennium.
But creating livable spaces on other planets is not his only goal. He wants to transfer as much industry from fossil fuels to sustainable energy. He wants to change the way we travel and implement a new form of high-speed city-to-city transportation via a vacuum tube. He wants to enhance human health and brainpower by creating a mind-computer interface. He wants to save humanity from a potential artificial intelligence takeover.
So far, Musk, who is a multimillionaire at 46-years-old, has not accomplished any of those goals, writes Rolling Stone. But he has successfully entered two fields with “ridiculously high barriers to enter,” with no experience — car manufacturing and rocketry. He has created the best products in those industries and has managed to sell the world on his capability to achieve objectives that no one else even talks about.
“He’s able to see things more clearly in a way that no one else I know of can understand,” his brother, Kimbal, told Rolling Stone. He told the magazine about his brother’s love of chess in their earlier years, and said, “There’s a thing in chess where you can see 12 moves ahead if you’re a grandmaster. And in any particular situation, Elon can see things 12 moves ahead.”
Musk, whose company just revealed the Tesla Model 3, a car so good that other car manufacturers are having to abandon gas cars just to compete, also discussed his recent break-up with actress Amber Heard.
“I’ve been in severe emotional pain for the last few weeks,” he told Rolling Stone. “Severe. It took every ounce of will to be able to do the Model 3 event and not look like the most depressed guy around. For most of that day, I was morbid. And then I had to psych myself up: drink a couple of Red Bulls, hang out with positive people and then, like, tell myself: ‘I have all these people depending on me. All right, do it!’”
Along with all of his grand, life-changing for all humans plans, Musk also just wants to be in love.
“If I’m not in love, if I’m not with a long-term companion, I cannot be happy,” he told Rolling Stone.
