A Woman With a Transplanted Uterus Just Gave Birth in U.S.

This is the first birth of its kind.

Doctors at Baylor University say a woman born without a uterus has delivered a baby after a successful transplant. This is the first time the surgery has worked outside of the hospital that pioneered the procedure. This could be a sign for thousands of women who have been unable to conceive. The surgery differs from other transplants in one major way: it is not forever. The surgery gives the woman enough time to conceive a child and then it is removed via surgery after birth.
