Monopoly Is Opening a Holiday Rules Hotline So You Don’t Murder Your Family

‘F*ck this game!’

As anyone who’s ever played Monopoly knows, arguments about the rules are as synonymous with the game as Boardwalk, collecting $200 at “Go” and everyone wanting to be the race car.

In order to stop those disputes from ending in estrangement, Hasbro has set up a hotline U.K. customers can call during gameplay to get mediation about the rules.

The idea for the hotline — which will be open from December 24th-26th and can be reached at (44) 0800 689 4903 — came about after a survey of adults found more than half of Monopoly games end in a fight, “most likely caused by mavericks making up the rules as they go along.”

“Our research found that Monopoly games can regularly end in chaos, with some friends and family members stopping at nothing to win,” Hasbro UK & Ireland marketing director Craig Wilkins told The Sun. “We’ll have experts on hand with the official rulebooks to instantly settle any disputes, and advise on how to resolve common complaints.”

Callers will also be able to donate to charity, though hopefully not with cash swiped from Free Parking.
