Ken Jennings taking on James Holzhauer in a Jeopardy match-up.
What is inevitable, Alex?
In an interview on Good Morning America, Jennings, who won $2,520,700 on Jeopardy in 2004 after going on a ridiculous 74-game winning streak, said it has “got to be inevitable” he will take on Holzhauer at some point in the future.
Holzhauer, of course, was on the verge of breaking Jennings’ earnings record but lost, ending his 32-game win streak with total winnings of $2,462,216.
“He was so close to the cash record,” Jennings said. “And it just shows how fragile a Jeopardy streak is. It seemed like he might be the guy, the chosen one, so I was very excited. I wanted to see it come down to the wire, I wanted to see if it could be beaten because I think it can be done.”
Though they’re better known, both players fall short of Brad Rutter in terms of earnings. Arguably the show’s greatest player, Rutter has won more than $4.5 million playing Jeopardy and has never lost a match to a human competitor. (His only loss came in 2011 at the hands of IBM super-computer Watson.)
