Last week brought the alarming news that Glee star Naya Rivera had gone missing while boating with her son in Lake Piru, California. The search for Rivera has involved diving into the lake itself, as well as searches of nearby buildings. And it’s been affected somewhat by dangerous weather conditions, which paused the search several days ago.
Now, the Associated Press is reporting that the authorities’ search has discovered a body within the lake. It’s not clear if the body is Rivera’s or someone else’s, though the AP News report offers some worrying context:
Authorities would not immediately say if the person found was Rivera, but said the day after she disappeared that they believed she drowned in the lake northwest of Los Angeles. A 2 p.m. press conference was scheduled.
According to the report, the search crews discovered the body floating in the lake’s northeastern area. Rivera has been missing since she and her son went boating earlier in the month. Her son was found on the boat and told authorities that they had been swimming; he was able to make it back to the boat, and she was not.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office press conference will be held on 2 pm Pacific time on Monday.
