It hasn’t been a very good week for the Washington Redskins.
On the same day news broke about a 2013 scandal involving the team’s cheerleading squad, a defensive lineman who was cut by the Redskins on Monday called Washington’s logo racist.
In an Instagram post announcing he’d signed with the New York Giants, 27-year-old A.J. Francis took shots at his former team with a number of hashtags, most notably #AndYourLogoIsRacist.
Francis, a part-time player for Washington last season who recorded 18 tackles over six games, also listed the dates the Redskins will face the Giants in 2018, October 28 and December 9.
After the Cleveland Indians decided to abandon their Chief Wahoo logo after this season, pressure has increased on the Redskins to cut ties with their team symbol.
