Nike supports national anthem kneeler Colin Kaepernick – and LeBron James is standing with them for it.
A day after the Oregon-based clothier took flak from stock traders and even President Trump for making Kaepernick the face of their new “Just Do It” campaign, James came out in support Nike and, by extension, Kaepernick.
At the unveiling of the new LA Laker’s latest Nike basketball shoe, a women’s sneaker designed by three female African-American designers, James said he backs anyone who promotes social change.
“I stand with anyone who believes in change … and I stand with Nike every day, all day,” he said.
Another guest at the event, African-American designer Tracy Reese, also shared her appreciation for the new Nike campaign.
“It was tastefully done,” she said. “And really, this is the time to stand up for what you believe in. Colin Kaepernick has done that and I think that we need to follow his example and really go where the heart leads, instead of where everybody expects you to go.”
