Aston Martin’s Zagato Coupe Showed Up Topless at Pebble Beach

From Bonnie and Clyde to Lochte and Feigen, everyone needs a partner in crime — even Aston Martins.

Designed to complement the Vanquish Zagato coupe that was unveiled at Lake Como’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este earlier this year, Aston Martin brought the topless Vanquish Zagato Volante to Pebble Beach’s Concours d’Elegance last week.

Like its coupe cousin, the Volante model features custom bodywork from Italian design house Zagato that’s been modified to accommodate the convertible’s bespoke folding soft-top and, as with its forebear, production will be limited to a run of 99 cars.

Under the hood, the Volante has an enhanced version of Aston Martin’s V12 powertrain that produces 592 HP and gives the open-top model a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds. Its lower body has also been outfitted with carbon fiber sills that “create a pronounced horizontal emphasis.”

In addition to the standard leather finishings and anodized bronze detailing in the car’s interior, Aston Martin’s “Q” division can add further personalized touches to the Zagato for interested parties, with deliveries set to begin in 2017 (pricing still TBD).

“Just like the coupe, we have emphasised the way surfaces change and intersect to create a muscular form,” according to Aston Martin exec Marek Reichman. “We’ve endeavoured to create an elegant, flowing shape that works to emphasise the car’s sculpted rear haunches.”
