After calling states on election night as part of NBC’s coverage of the presidential race, MSNBC political correspondent Steve Kornacki is going to get a shot to predict the NFL playoff picture this Sunday on Football Night in America.

Kornacki will appear on the show before NBC’s coverage of Broncos-Chiefs on Sunday Night Football and will also return to the broadcast during halftime of what figures to be a blowout of a game.

“I’ve been a fan of the game since I was kid and SNF has been must-see TV for me since it started back in ’06,” Kornacki said in a release. “Truly a thrill to get this chance, especially as the season reaches its most exciting point. I spent the last year using the Big Board to map out all of the various roads to 270 and I can’t wait to put it to use breaking down all of the paths to the playoffs.”

In related news, the Gap is donating 500 pairs of khakis — the pants the 41-year-old consistently wore during his election coverage — to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s workforce readiness program in Kornacki’s honor.

Kornacki joked that the idea for the donation came about after the Gap originally offered to provide him with a lifetime supply of khakis.

“I go through about one pair of pants every five to 10 years, so I don’t need much when it comes to that,” Kornacki. “The Gap said, ‘Well, we have something else in mind.’”
