And the rich just get richer.

Already loaded with talent on an offense that is led by superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs have added former Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell after he was cut by the New York Jets.

Bell, who had narrowed his choices to the Chiefs, Dolphins and Bills after being cut, is signing a one-year contract that’s loaded with incentives to join the defending Super Bowl champs, who are favored to repeat this season.

In 17 games with the Jets, the 28-year-old rushed for 863 yards and three touchdowns. A three-time Pro Bowl selection during his time with Pittsburgh, Bell rushed for 5,336 yards and 35 touchdowns and also had 312 receptions for 2,660 yards and seven scores in five seasons with the Steelers.

In addition to starter Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown in a season-opening win over the Houston Texans in his first NFL game, the Chiefs also have Darrel Williams, Darwin Thompson and DeAndre Washington at running back. One of those players will likely be released or demoted to the practice squad to make room for Bell on the roster.

Bell has 19 carries for 74 yards this season. He will be available to take the field for the Chiefs after a league-mandated quarantine period of five days which means he’ll miss Kansas City’s Monday night game against the Buffalo Bills.

Expect to see Bell carrying the ball and catching passes from Mahomes starting in Week 7 when they take on the Broncos. Kansas City plays the Jets in Week 8 and there’s a strong possibility Bells runs wild against his former team and embattled New York head coach Adam Gase.
