Chilling Video: Inside the Mouth of a Great White Shark
In a moment reminiscent of 'Jaws', underwater drone captures amazing footage of a shark bite.
Have you ever wondered what it looks like to stare deep into the mouth of a Great White Shark as it tries to bites down on you? That question has likely haunted many Jaws fans but a National Geographic clip of a Great White biting an underwater camera drone now affords anyone an amazing perspective of the real thing.
According to IFL Science, late last year explorer Dominik Fretz was exploring off the coast of Isla de Guadelupe, Mexico when he sent his Trident underwater drone beneath the surface, catching the attention of several of the massive sharks.
The shark who ends up as the video’s star swims toward the drone, gives it one chomp, then releases it without destroying it, realizing that the drone is not food. But the chilling footage of the moment clearly shows the shark’s muscle contractions as it bites down, an extremely rare—but thankfully, not deadly—look inside the mouth of a Great White Shark.
