Scarlett Johansson is the world’s highest-paid female actress after earning $40.5 million in the year to June 2018, reports The Guardian. Johansson did not feature in Forbes magazine’s top 10 last year, but her role as Black Widow in the Marvel universe bumped up her paycheck. Plus, the second part of Avengers: Infinity War is due for release next spring.

Angelina Jolie comes in second place with $28 million, based on her contract for the Disney sequel Maleficent II. The movie started shooting in May, and will most likely be released May 2020.

Jennifer Aniston is listed as third with $19.5 million, which is less for her acting earnings and more for endorsements for brands such as Emirates, SmartWater and Aveeno.

Emma Stone led last year’s ranking with $26 million, but is not featured this year. Neither is Charlize Theron or Emma Watson, both of whom appeared on last year’s list.

It is worth noting that Johansson’s total is well below last year’s male equivalent, Mark Wahlberg, who earned $68 million in the 2017 list. Both of them, however, are likely to be dwarfed by the 2018 male actors list. Forbe’s highest-paid entertainments list, published in July, had Dwayne Johnson making $124 million and George Clooney raking in $239 million.
