Someone Working for Pope Francis “Liked” a Model’s Saucy Instagram Pic

For once, the Vatican seems to think this warrants a quick investigation

The Pope — or much more likely someone working for Pope Francis — apparently enjoys Instagram models.

Pope Francis’s official Instagram account recently “liked” a scantily clad pic of Brazilian model Natalia Garibotto, who also is popular on the gaming site Twitch. News outlets began reporting on the social media thumbs-up last Friday; the photo was soon after “unliked.”

A representative from the Papal Press office told the BBC that “as far as we know the ‘like’ did not come from the Holy See.” (The picture, according to USA Today, showed the model in “revealing, schoolgirl-style lingerie” and was captioned with a devil horn emoji and line “I can teach you a thing or two.”). The Vatican also noted it was working with Instagram to establish where it came from and an internal investigation had started.

(Side note: It’d be nice if the Vatican acted this quickly on more important matters that have gone on for decades.)

“At least I’m going to heaven,” as Garibotto tweeted.
