The Guinness Book of World Records recently verified Viet Nguyen Dinh Tuan’s whisky collection as the world’s most valuable accumulation of brown spirits, worth an estimated $16.7 million.

According to the spirits industry newsletter The Drinks Business, the Ho Chi Minh City resident amassed 535 old and rare Scotches over the course of 20 years. The highlight of his collection? Three bottles of the 1926 Macallan Fine and Rare, the world’s most expensive bottle of whisky (a single bottle, not from Viet’s collection, fetched $1.9 million at a Sotheby’s auction last month).

But bad news for whisky fans: Tuan, who built his collection through auction sites and trading websites in “every spare moment” of his life, isn’t sharing.

“I have no intention of selling any of it,” he says. “Not one bottle. In fact, I’ll continue to hunt for more old and rare bottles and add to and enrich it.”
