We live in the age of the hybrid. Of the eco-drive. Of race cars that run on g’damned canola oil.

But the cars below? They’re from another era. And they run on high-octane sex appeal.

Give an appreciative whistle to Art of the Automobile, the first major car collector auction to be held in Manhattan in more than a decade, taking applicants now.

You can view AOTA’s gorgeous auction catalogue online, but here are a few of our favorite rigs up for bid:

1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing

A racing-inspired chassis prevented traditional doors, so Daimler-Benz simply hinged them on the roof, creating the iconic “gullwing” look. Bonus: comes with a luggage set that matches the interior.

1997 Ferrari F310B

Michael Schumacher piloted this needle-nosed crimson screamer to a checkered flag at the ‘97 Monaco Grand Prix.

1938 Talbot-Lago T150-C SS Teardrop Cabriolet

Owned by a WWII double agent who absconded to Brazil in the ‘40s, and yours for a mere $10M. Perfect stocking stuffer.

2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Bleu Nuit

A custom body of midnight blue carbon-fiber, and not one but two V8 engines cranking out more than a thousand horses. The fastest street-legal car on Earth.

The auction’s only open to registered bidders, but those just interested in ogling can pop by the free exhibit at Sotheby’s starting the 18th.

Or just ogle online.
