The director of the controversial production of Julius Caesar in Central Park and his family are receiving detailed and horrendous rape and death threats, according to the New York Post.
“It’s sexual attacks on my mother — ‘grab her by the p—y,’ raping her — threats on me, and physical threats on my father’s life,” Kyle Brown, the 26-year-old daughter of director Oskar Eustis told the Post.
The Brooklyn-based artistic director of the Public Theater has been directing Shakespeare in the Park’s production of the play, making headlines and losing sponsors over depicting Caesar — who is murdered by Roman senators onstage — as President Trump.
“Your husband wants Trump to die. I want him to die,” one caller warned, according to police. The caller continued to harass the director and his family at home, threatening to publish their home address and phone number, and revealing alarming personal information that was not made public.
“It’s not okay. It’s stuff we did not sign up for — nothing that the show justified,” Brown told the Post.
The play has been interrupted on several occasions now by various conservative protestors. Critics, including Donald Trump Jr., have criticized the play for encouraging violence against Republican politicians, including the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise and congressional staffers.
Delta Airlines, American Express and Bank of America are among the sponsors who have pulled out in response to the controversy.
