Watch Pro Skateboarder Take Scenic Route Through Streets of Lisbon

The fastest way to get around Lisbon apparently isn’t via car, bus or train—but by skateboard.

Enter 25-year-old pro skateboard João Allen, who recently told Red Bull that he got his start skating in Lisbon’s main plaza, Praça da Figueira, and branched out from there.

Says Allen of the conditions in Lisbon: “Most of our flat ground is made with calçada, which is Portuguese cobblestone, so a lot of the spots we have are pretty rough.” One would suspect that that would be a deterrent, but Allen sees it the opposite way. “[We] have a lot of spots that aren’t that easy to skate, and that most people don’t even try to. I prefer those ones since they’re more challenging—you get more hyped up when you skate them,” he says.

Watch what happens when Allen gets “hyped up” below.
