The evolution and variety of automotive dashboards in the current century has been dramatic indeed. One might resemble its predecessors from bygone decades; another might look more like your iPhone or Android, entirely digital and based around touch. As electric vehicles grow in popularity, so too have the advances in dashboards and multimedia technology; a recent Kyocera concept car offers a prime example of that.

But promising automotive screen technology isn’t just in the realm of concept cars. A new report from Joel Stocksdale at AutoBlog reveals that Mercedes-Benz’s highly-anticipated electric sedan, the EQS, will feature an innovative infotainment system known as MBUX Hyperscreen.

What’s not yet clear is what the Hyperscreen will actually look like. Mercedes-Benz won’t be announcing that until next month. Stocksdale writes that it will be as wide as the interior of the car. “It will be a curved screen, too, and will display items for both the driver and the front passenger,” he adds. “Presumably, it will include the instruments as well as all variety of infotainment including music, navigation and more.”

The Hyperscreen reveal is scheduled for January 7, 2021. Glimpses of the EQS should follow at a later date, with the Vision EQS concept car offering a general idea of what to expect.
