In a rant on his show Speak For Yourself, Fox Sports host Jason Whitlock said that fame is a drug that NBA star LeBron James is addicted to.

While taking James to task for being too visible at his son Bronny’s AAU basketball games, Whitlock compared the Los Angeles Lakers forward to LaVar Ball and said he had turned the youth hoops games into a “spectacle” and a “circus.”

Whitlock, who called the 34-year-old a “fame and social media junkie,” also referenced when James told his mother to “sit yo ass down” during a game when he was involved in a confrontation with Celtics forward Paul Pierce.

“That’s what parents, no matter how famous, should do,” Whitlock said. “They should not allow their thirst for fame to distract from or exaggerate their child’s performance. LeBron needs to follow the advice he gave his mom a decade ago: Sit yo ass down.”

Then there was the cocaine comparison.

“It’s inappropriate,” Whitlock said during his rant. “It points to how much fame has inevitably changed LeBron over the past decade. Fame is a drug more potent and dangerous than cocaine. LeBron is a fame and social media junkie. He moved to Los Angeles looking for a better high.”
