Kim Kardashian West has opened up about her meeting with President Donald Trump on Wednesday at the White House. During that meeting she discussed the case of Alice Johnson, a 63-year-old grandmother who is serving a life sentence in federal prison for a first-time, nonviolent drug offense. Kardashian told Mic that she feels the president really took time to listen to the case Kardashian and others were making for Alice. She is “hopeful” that things will “turn out really positively.”

Kardashian was joined in the Oval Office by her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley. They asked Trump to grant clemency for Johnson, who has been imprisoned for over 21 years in Aliceville, Alabama. West has been working for months to secure Johnson’s release. She has paid for Johnson’s legal fees and has been discussing the case with White House senior adviser and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

“I went in, me and Shawn, to really talk to the president about Alice Johnson and really explain to him why she would be such a good person to grant clemency to,” Kardashian said, according to Mic. “The president seems to have a passion for what everything that Jared has been trying to do, and that just makes me happy that that conversation is just moving forward.”
