A long time ago (1977), in this galaxy right here, the first Star Wars film was released. Today, the trailer for the final film in the triple trilogy, Episode IX, was released as part of a Star Wars celebration in Chicago.

Dubbed Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the new film will one again feature fan favorites like Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). Directed by J.J. Abrams, the film will be the culmination of the Skywalker saga and will likely feature Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher in some way even though their famous characters are now dead (or so it seems).

“This movie, it’s about this new generation, and what they’ve inherited, the light and the dark,” Abrams said at the debut of the trailer.

That makes sense as the tag line for the new film is: “Every generation has a legend.” Check out the teaser below.

The new film will be out in December of this year.
