Is the Mercedes-Maybach 6 Concept the Future of Ultra-Luxury Cars?
Intended as a homage to the age of aero coupes, the head of design at Daimler AG, Gorden Wagener, describes the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 as both “hot and cool”: “With its intelligent appeal and reduced, technoid look, it perfectly embodies our design philosophy of sensual purity and our pursuit of aerodynamic efficiency.”
Let’s get the stats out of the way first: this 2+2 seater goes from 0 to 60 mph in under 4.0 seconds, and it has a top speed of 155 mph.
But really, this is a vehicle where it’s hard not to be most excited about the aesthetics, including the “reinterpretation of the Mercedes-Maybach radiator grille with its fine, vertical struts.”
The interior is described as a “luxurious 360° lounge” that contrasts digital displays with traditional wood trim and elm on the floor. (This is also where the car gets seriously patriotic, with the red complemented by white and those lines of blue.)(Mercedes-Benz)
