Eagles’ Darren Sproles Tore ACL, Broke Arm on Same Play
Running back said to be undergoing surgery today on arm, knee at later date.

The Philadelphia Eagles may have iced the New York Giants in the final seconds of Sunday’s game with a 61-yard field goal, but at least one Eagle wasn’t doing much celebrating after the game.
As ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports, Eagles running back Darren Sproles tore his ACL and broke his arm on the same play and will immediately undergo surgery on his arm on Monday. He’ll also be undergoing surgery on his knee but at a later date.
As Bleacher Report notes, while contact with Giants safety Darian Thompson likely caused the broken arm, it’s unclear how Sproles tore his ACL, as there wasn’t any contact with his knee.
At 33, it’s unclear whether this pair of injuries is career-ending for the back. Last December, he told ESPN that this would be his last season with the Eagles before retiring.
