Bruce Springsteen’s Tell-All Is Coming to a Town Near You
The Boss goes on a book tour. Yes, unreleased music included.
Even as he approaches the ripe old age of 67, Bruce Springsteen’s breaking records.
Four-hour shows. I mean, damn.
His next act, however, is a little more personal. The Jersey royal is headed out on a book tour to promote his upcoming autobiography Born to Run (not to be confused with the 1979 biography of the same name). Springsteen’s rather revealing backstory will hit shelves on September 27th, along with an accompanying album (Chapter and Verse) that spans his entire career, including pre-E Street Band songs and five previously unreleased tracks.
The book tour also starts on September 27th — in, natch, New Jersey — and continues through October 10th.
While Born to Run tackles a number of difficult areas for the singer — his strained relationship with his father and his frequent bouts with depression, for example — don’t expect to get too up close and personal during these signings. His New York appearance, for instance, is a “photo-op with ticket, wristband and book purchase.” Books will be pre-signed, and there will be “no discussion or performance.”
The book, however, features Springsteen in full honesty mode, working alone: there’s no co-writer here, and the singer took seven years to write his history.
“I knew I was gonna ‘go there’ in the book,” Springsteen said recently in a Vanity Fair cover story. “I had to find the roots of my own troubles and issues — and the joyful things that have allowed me to put on the kind of shows that we put on.”
