When Virgil Abloh died last year, his loss was felt across a host of industries —including, but not limited to, menswear, where he initially made a name for himself. And in the months since then, an even fuller scope of what Abloh was capable of has emerged — including a boldly-designed collaboration with Mercedes.

Now, still more work of Abloh’s has been announced — this time, at this year’s Milan Design Week. As Dezeen reports, several distinctly-designed objects that Abloh worked on were unveiled at the event. This included an array of cutlery that Abloh designed for Alessi, as well as a number of cubes for Cassina. All told, eight new Abloh designs were released.

In an interview with Wallpaper, Alberto Alessi recalled Abloh’s initial concepts for their design. “[W]hen he looked at our world, the world of Alessi, it was through the eyes of one who loved the idea of a mechanical workshop – I remember that the first reference he showed me was a wrench – very far from the elegance of what we habitually think of as good design. It was almost brutalist,” Alessi said. “I found this very interesting, as for us it was a new approach.”

According to Alessi’s website, only 999 sets of cutlery will be made. Details on when they’ll be available for purchase have not yet been released.
