The details of what led to retired NFL offensive lineman Richie Incognito’s arrest on Monday at an Arizona funeral home have started to emerge and they are somewhat disturbing.

According to a police report, employees at Messingers Pinnacle Peak Mortuary in Scottsdale became frightened after Incognito showed up at the business and said he wanted his father’s head removed for research purposes and then began to punch caskets and throw things.

Following a back-and-forth discussion about cremation papers, Incognito made “himself comfortable” in the office of one of the alleged victims and issued a threat.

“He made a gesture and said he was going to kill somebody here and said he had guns in his truck,” according to a 911 call made by an employee. “We are just very afraid right now.”

Once police arrived on the scene, officers recovered a Glock 17 9mm handgun, a Glock 35 .40-caliber handgun, three rifles, and four firearm magazines inside Incognito’s Ford Raptor pickup.

Incognito was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor charges of threats and disorderly conduct.

It’s possible the former Pro Bowler wanted his father’s brain to be studied for CTE, but it’s also possible the erratic behavior was a result of issues Incognito himself is dealing with.

Those issues also allegedly arose up at a pizza parlor shortly before the incident at the funeral home.
