More than 20 years after he left it, Keith Olbermann is returning to the place that made him famous: the anchor chair on the SportsCenter set.
For the first time since leaving the gig in 1997 for various positions at MSNBC, Fox Sports and CNN (to name a few), Olbermann will return to ESPN to host about 20 editions of the 11 p.m. broadcast of SportsCenter over the next year.
That’s not all as Olbermann will also work in the studio and in the broadcast booth for ESPN’s MLB coverage and appear on network studio shows including PTI and Outside the Lines. The new role at ESPN will also require Olbermann to make appearances as both a guest host and a call-in guest on various ESPN Audio programs.
Prior to this, Olbermann had been working in a limited role at ESPN which began in January.
“Keith’s smart, creative perspective on the world of sports always informs and entertains fans,” said ESPN executive vice president Norby Williamson. “His varied collection of ESPN appearances over the last several months has provided a great model for utilizing his distinctive voice and this new agreement will extend his contributions even further.”
It seems Olbermann is not wasting any time embracing his new role with his old company:
