Alex Catarinella

Alex Catarinella is a freelance writer based in New York City. He has over a decade of experience writing about fashion, culture, lifestyle and Britney Spears. He got his start in his early twenties as a party reporter covering the downtown scene for PAPER and awkwardly approaching celebrities for interviews at fancy fashion events for ELLE and New York Magazine. In his early thirties, he penned a series of personal essays detailing how he fell into the fashion world (and made a train wreck of an entrance) for Dazed & Confused. Over the years, he's also written for Vogue, NYLON, i-D, HYPEBAE, Coveteur, L'Officiel and many more. His favorite celebrity interviews include those with Wendy Williams (who complimented him on his smile), Courtney Love (who introduced him to Buddhist chanting) and chatting with three out of five Spice Girls sans fainting. These days, he frequents East Village coffee shops near his apartment a lot more than fashion parties, and he mainly writes about all things travel, from city guides to hotel reviews. His happy place is in an aisle seat on a very long international flight with his iPhone on airplane mode.
