Cliffside Hotel in Peru Lets Vacationers Live on the Edge
This cliffside hotel in Cusco (also spelled Cuzco), Peru takes adventurous vacationing to new heights. Three separate bedrooms, built from aerospace aluminum and weather-resistant polycarbonate, make up the Skylodge Adventure Suites. Situated 1,312 feet above Cusco’s Sacred Valley, the 24- by 8-foot modules are each equipped with four beds, a kitchen area, and a private bathroom.
Natalia Rodriguez from Natura Vive (the Peruvian tour company which manages the Skylodge) tells RealClearLife that the inspiration behind these cliffside dwellings was simple: she wanted people without any climbing experience still to be able to have a “complete mountain adventure.”
Travelers can reach the Skylodge Adventure Suites by climbing, hiking, or zip-lining. Getting there takes roughly four hours, but it’s worth the struggle. Guests are provided with breakfast, a gourmet dinner, and wine (somewhat of a surprise considering the location). Of course, the main attraction is the 300-degree view of the valley.
Natura Vive’s website notes that each suite provides visitors with “first class service and complete comfort.” And if you were wondering about safety, it’s ensured by “having the exit portal located in the upper part of the craft”, guaranteeing that anyone who exits really wants to.
