This Is Us fans received the devastating moment they’ve been waiting more than a year for after Sunday’s Super Bowl, as the show’s new episode depicts the death of Milo Ventimiglia’s Jack. Esquire sat down with Ventimiglia to discuss his future with the multiple-timeline series. Ventimiglia promises that his beloved character isn’t going anywhere, and fans can expect the series to return to the early days of Jack’s relationship with his wife Rebecca, as well as a storyline involving his brother. Ventimiglia said he was told about the nature of his character’s demise during season one, and since he’s had to commit to what he calls “Fort Knox secrecy.” When the cast gathered to watch Jack’s big episode last Wednesday, Ventimiglia was amazed by his fellow cast members’ work. “It was almost a proud father moment, just watching my TV family experience this loss,” he told Esquire.
