She’s capable of carrying on conversation, has an anatomically correct body and can be yours for a mere $10,000. She can be customized, too. Think of Harmony, CNET suggests, like a Build-a-Bear sex doll.

The San Diego Union-Tribune recently spent time with the artificially intelligent sex doll many describe as the “most scientifically advanced human-style robot in the world,” according to the UT.

But not everyone is thrilled with this technological advancement. Critics of creator Matt McMullen and Harmony say that AI sex dolls — which McMullen has developed for twenty years — are not unlike sex slavery. Others say Harmony’s owners could use her to practice violent sexual acts on. McMullen told the UT that Harmony’s main purpose is to carry on conversation, and her endless vocabulary stops if the conversation turns to murder or violence.

“The whole idea of a sex-capable robot is very contemporary, now and edgy. I get that. But Harmony is a sophisticated piece of machinery and her primary design is to carry on conversations,” McMullen told the UT. “The worst thing she can possibly do to you is insult you.”
