‘Husband Storage Pods’ Are One Way to Save America’s Malls

If the allure of chain stores and food courts isn’t enough, bored men at malls now have a new option: Sitting on their ass and playing video games.

The Global Harbour mall in Shanghai recently installed four “husband storage pods,” glass cubes replete with comfy chairs, a computer and classic video games like Tekken 3.

These pods are free (for now) to use and, to be fair, not limited to husbands.

One significant drawback: No air conditioning. “I sat playing for five minutes and was drenched in sweat,” one shopper said.

But look, in my day, you just needed a bench and your smartphone to keep yourself entertained during unnecessary shopping binges. Why, we could spend hours on social media looking at miserable men in malls.

If anything, maybe a strategy to save the current state of American malls?
