Most of America May Be in For a Mild Winter

Many Americans might have a very mild winter this year, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s seasonal forecast.

The report, released Thursday, says that states from across the West Coast, over to Michigan, down to Texas and into New England could see above-average temperatures during the upcoming winter months.

Gulf Coast states are predicted to experience a standard season, the NOAA Climate Prediction Center reported.

A drier-than-average winter is also the forecase for the Great Lakes and Northern Rockies regions but NOAA warned this does not mean major snow storms aren’t possible.

“Even during a warmer-than-average winter, periods of cold temperatures and snowfall are still likely to occur,” the agency wrote in its report.
