If you’re planning on staying close to home this summer, some good news: A slew of hotels have opened since last Labor Day. While you may have a roster of go-to spots around the city, there’s something exciting about being able to check into a brand-new hotel.
Whether it’s a guest room in a romantic boutique hotel on South Beach or a modern two-bedroom suite in a high-rise in Brickell, hunting down the destination for your next weekend getaway just got a little bit easier. (And sending visitors somewhere other than your guest room just got easier, too.) Check out, and check into, these five new hotels that opened just in time for your next summer staycation.
Yotel Miami, opens June 2022
Yotel Miami is a new tech-minded downtown Miami hotel that’s less than a mile from the FTX Arena and Bayside Marketplace. Guests can check in with self-service stations, access their rooms with a mobile app and receive amenities from concierge robots (yes, really). You’ve got access to two restaurants: Mazeh, a ground-floor Middle Eastern restaurant that serves tasty tapas, and Float, a poolside restaurant and bar opening later this year.
The outdoor spaces are decked out in contemporary purple and gray, and the pool deck has plenty of loungers and daybeds, with views of downtown Miami. Inside, each of the 222 rooms has gray wood flooring, a convertible SmartBed and a convenient workspace. Guest suites range from a modest 220 square feet to a comfortable 430 square feet, with open-concept bathrooms. Yotel Miami is ideal for those who want a centrally located hotel with easy access to sporting and entertainment events.
Atwell Suites Miami Brickell, April 2022
If you’re looking for a large space to host family or friends, Atwell Suites Miami Brickell in downtown Brickell offers large one- and two-bedroom suites ideal for longer stays. Spread over nine floors, the 90 suites come with sleeper sofas, a separate sitting area, a wet bar and a private balcony with great views. There’s also the added bonus of a flexible coworking space in the lobby on the 24th floor.
If you’re up early, the hotel offers complimentary breakfast with hot and cold menu items. There’s also a lobby bar with ready-made cocktails, along with small bites and a 24/7 shop with snacks and toiletries. Atwell Suites also shares some amenities with Hotel Indigo, located on the same property. Atwell Suites guests can dine at Hotel Indigo’s patio restaurant, Mosaico, and use the L-shaped sixth-story hotel pool that’s lined with pool loungers and high-top bistro seating.
Uma House South Beach, January 2022
With only 63 rooms, Uma House South Beach provides a respite from the large Miami resorts. First impressions are important, and inside the lobby, guests are greeted with stunning marble floors, sculpted velvet couches and photography of some of the world’s biggest pop stars, like Michael Jackson and Madonna. Each of the rooms includes maple floors, oversized tufted headboards, and maroon and gray armchairs. Choose from the cozy 183-square-foot standard King room, or the 538-square-foot King suite, the largest guest room on offer.
In Miami fashion, there are several stylish outdoor spaces to hang out, like the garden-level courtyard terrace and a sixth-floor rooftop terrace, with a pool next door. Nearish to the Miami Beach Convention Center and Collins Avenue shopping, the hotel is only a 10-minute walk from South Beach, and guests get complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas.
AC Hotel Miami Brickell, December 2021
AC Hotel Miami Brickell is a contemporary, 156-room property located directly across from the Brickell City Center. The hotel features calming, almost minimalist decor with natural wood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows and a streamlined workspace. All of the guest rooms come with a window seating area, armchairs and bench seating under the flat-screen TVs. For the best views, book the King or Queen corner suites, which have additional windows looking out over the downtown cityscape.
The 22-story hotel also has a number of great amenities, starting with the sixth-floor rooftop pool. There’s also no shortage of food and drink venues — guests can start the day with a buffet breakfast at AC Kitchen, order small plates at the AC Lounge, and enjoy drinks with a view at the Rooftop Bar and Lounge. The property is also pet-friendly and has an electric vehicle charging station.
Esmé Miami Beach, November 2021
Esmé Miami Beach is not your typical South Beach hotel. Forget soft color palettes and coastal decor — instead, the hotel is awash in jewel-toned accent walls, Spanish tiles, dark wood furniture and gorgeous gold fixtures. Located in the historic Española Way plaza, the 145-room boutique hotel recently underwent a five-year renovation, unveiling a romantic, bohemian property in late 2021. Each guest room is outfitted in Italian linens and custom furniture, and select rooms have balconies that overlook Española Way.
The unique hotel is spread across eight buildings and offers five different bar and restaurant options. The buildings are connected by paseos, or walkways, and guests get access to a rooftop pool deck that features coral-striped cushion seating, lush plants and straw-covered lamps. The rooftop deck is also the location of The Roof, a swanky bar where guests can sip cocktails under the stars. Though the hotel feels far from all the action, it’s within walking distance to Lincoln Road Mall and only a five-minute walk to Ocean Drive.
