Billionaire philanthropist and former mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg says that if the federal government won’t address climate change, the people — including businesses and cities — have to.

“It’s something we really should worry about,” Bloomberg told late night host Stephen Colbert, adding that business-minded people should look at addressing the changing climate as an insurance policy.

“There’s a risk, and a businessperson would take appropriate protections,” Bloomberg said. “You don’t think you’re going to die, but you still buy a life insurance policy.”
