Everything is political. Even Macaulay Culkin movies.

The Canadian public TV network CBC recently aired the 1992 holiday movie Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, and cut out a cameo appearance by Donald Trump.

The CBC says it wasn’t a political move. In a statement released to the genre site ComicBook.com, the network claimed: “As is often the case with features adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited to allow for a commercial time within the format.”

As expected, people had opinions (h/t ComicBook.com):

The timing of the cut is certainly interesting; the President recently called the movie “one of the biggest” Christmas hits during a video conference call to U.S. troops overseas.
