Reports of Steph Curry's death have been greatly exaggerated

Steph Curry has gotten off to a rather pedestrian start to the 2020-21 season, having made just 9 of his 35 three-point attempts while averaging 25 points per game en route to a 1-2 start for the Warriors.

But if you are wondering if the man the Chinese call “Sky Fucker” somehow lost his superhuman shooting touch while sitting out most of the 2019-20 season with a left-hand injury, a video that has been circulating on social media should set your doubts to rest.

Behold, Steph Curry draining 103 consecutive three-pointers (of an alleged 105, according to team sources):

The streak took place at a team shootaround in Chicago on Saturday ahead of the team’s game against Bulls last night, which the Warriors won 129-128 compliments of a last-second three from Damion Lee. It’s the longest such streak of Curry’s career, breaking his previous record of 77, according to the Mercury News.

Head coach Steve Kerr called the feat “insane,” while teammate Draymond Green had a more reserved response: “As great as that is, I can’t sit here and act like, ‘Oh, I’m surprised.’ It’s just not really surprising to me. It’s such an incredible thing, but I’m sorry, Steph, it doesn’t really get me up out of my seat that he hit 105 in a row.”

If you’re wondering where Curry’s streak ranks in the pantheon of legendary shootarounds by any player, Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker claimed that he made 128 straight in December 2019, though video evidence only captured a streak of 45.

The Warriors next play the Pistons in Detroit on Tuesday night, the final game of a four-game road trip to kick off the season.
