On the day after Thanksgiving, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka will give the golf world what it wants and face off on the course in a one-on-one matchup that is sure to feature a good amount of good ol’ trash talk.
Taking place at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas and airing on TNT as well streaming online, the fifth edition of The Match will be a 12-hole affair and the first one-on-one match in the event’s history since the initial encounter between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in 2018.
Both players will be mic’d up and Turner broadcasters Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson are expected to call The Match V on Friday, November 26. Mickelson, who won’t be playing in the event for the first time, is expected to be involved in some capacity, according to Golf.com.
DeChambeau and Koepka were recently teammates on the U.S. Ryder Cup team and it is possible that being on the same side may have helped mend the rift between them. Following the team dinner on Monday night of Ryder Cup week, the former hinted that something capitalizing on his feud with Koepka could be coming down the fairway.
“I sat down and had dinner with him last night and it was fine,” DeChambeau said. “I think there may be something up here moving forward, but won’t speak too much more on that.”
The seventh-ranked player in the world, 28-year-old DeChambeau is an eight-time winner on the PGA Tour. Koepka, 31, also has eight PGA Tour victories and is ranked ninth in the world. The PGA has not placed them together in the same group since their feud bubbled back up following the PGA Championship
