By now, you’ve likely seen many stunning images or video sequences shot from the International Space Station–if not, here’s some.
That said, you haven’t seen them like this.
Christopher Malin has come up with a uniquely striking approach. Inspired by the 1980’s science fiction film Tron, the Austrian photographer took several image sequences shot by the ISS onboard cameras and layered them together (which took more than ten hours) creating a timelapse-like video. The result is visual art. The initial few frames faintly resemble a familiar perspective of Earth, but transforms into something beautifully abstract before your eye can distinguish anything.
