John Goodman doesn’t seem happy about filming a Roseanne spinoff without his longtime co-star.

When asked on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday night about continuing with The Connors after Roseanne Barr was fired from her own show in May after writing a racist tweet about former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, Goodman replied:

“She is missed, definitely. After that many years, it’s like a family. Last year was so miraculous and so unreal that when it went away it was almost like a dream.”

Goodman went forward, praising Barr for allowing a spinoff to continue even after she was written off — even as the rest of the cast would return to reprise their roles.

“She gave up a lot so that people could work,” Goodman said.
