Ralph Jester, a Hollywood costume designer best known for his work on epics like The Ten Commandments, commissioned architect Frank Lloyd Wright to design him a home in Santa Monica, Calif., in 1938. Due to eventual soaring construction costs, Jester never had the house built—but according to Curbed, Lloyd Wright would recast the design for a number of other clients.
